Magneto Thermal Calculation of Electrical Machines

Presented method based on coupled magnetic and thermal calculation is used for optimization process of electrical machine.

In this project a methodology is developed for the coupled calculation of the electromagnetic and thermal condition of the electrical machines using the numerical methods.

A simultaneous sequential calculations of the electromagnetic and thermal numerical calculation based on the FEM is applied. An iterative procedure is used to determine static value of temperature and losses.

Electromagnetic and thermal calculation is coupled through the FEM mesh by applying the projection of losses and temperature values. Using coupled magnetic and thermal calculation model the losses and temperatures inside the electrical machines are automatically determined.

The electromagnetic calculation is performed using the 2D FEM and an external circuit with own developed software.

The simplified 3D thermal model of stator and rotor is made based on the FE method. Thermal calculation is coupled with the cooling circuit. Thermal 3D model is created automatically. Thermal 3D calculation model is developed with own source code and application.
